Can I please get a Nanny and Personal Chef? And if you are feeling generous, can you throw in a Housekeeper?

Being a Mom means that you wear a lot of different hats. We manage to do it all and still keep our sanity (at least on most days). My life would be so much easier if I had a Nanny, Personal Chef, and a Housekeeper. I would have so much free time to do things that people without kids take for granted like taking a long shower or bath, taking a walk by myself, leaving on the spur of the moment, and going out on dates with my husband. Though it would be nice to have all of those people helping me, I love my life and I enjoy my time with family. My babies will only be little for a short while and I plan on enjoying every moment (even when they are throwing tantrums and crying for no reason at all). Today, I wanted to highlight items that help to make my daily life easier.

Always a Mess – Fingerpainting with Yogurt

Jake (24 months old) loves his turtle. He takes that turtle everywhere. He has even decorated his shell with star stickers. The thing is that the turtle was actually a Christmas present for my youngest (6 month old). When Jake first saw it, he assumed it was his and now the turtle and him are inseparable. So why is the turtle covered with yogurt?

Me- Jake why are you doing that?
Jake – Turt (turtle) won’t open mouth
Me – Jake please stop.
Jake – Turt hungry. Eat Eat
Me – Jake if you do not want anymore yogurt, please stop playing with it
Jake – but Turt Eat Eat

So now, I am cleaning up a toy turtle and a little boy covered in yogurt.

Quiet before the ‘MOM’

Being a mom has made me value those quiet times. The times when no one is crying or yelling or screaming your name. Those times early in the morning or late at night when you can escape from being a Mom for a second and focus on absolutely nothing at all. The problem is that during those times I find myself focusing on everything. I find myself making lists in my head of everything that I did not do or that I need to do. So right now while everyone is still asleep and the house is completely quiet, I am going to take yoga deep inhales and exhales. I am going to prepare my mind for the day ahead realizing that it is going to be filled with everything but quiet moments.

Good Morning!!
